Etsy Fees in 2026, Explained With Real Math

LedgerNest Guides

Ask ten Etsy sellers what percentage Etsy takes and you'll get ten answers, because the honest answer is "it depends on the order." Here is every fee in 2026 (US rates), and the real math on a typical order.

The five fees

FeeAmountWhen
Listing$0.20Per listing, and again each auto-renew after a sale
Transaction6.5%On item + shipping + gift wrap
Payment processing3% + $0.25Per order via Etsy Payments
Offsite Ads15% (12% over $10k/yr)Only when the sale came from an Etsy-placed ad
Shop setup$15–29 onceWhen you open the shop

A worked example

Two mugs at $24 plus $5.95 shipping = $53.95 order total.

Total: $5.58, or 10.3% of the order. If it was an Offsite Ads sale, add $8.09 — now it's 25.3%.

The three traps

  1. Fees hit shipping too. That $5.95 shipping charge isn't fee-free money.
  2. Offsite Ads is mandatory over $10k/yr. Price so a 12–15% surprise doesn't erase your margin.
  3. Refunds don't return the listing fee.

Rule of thumb: your price should be at least 2.5–3× your all-in cost (materials + packaging + labor + fees).
